Baer Building Originally built by George Baer, president of the famous Reading Railroad, in 1870 with a large 8-story addition in 1900, the Baer Building was slated for demolition in 1997. With only a few weeks left, Shuman Development Group stepped in purchased the building, and began extensive renovations. Over the next several years the building received numerous upgrades through various phases of restoration that included a new electric service, new telecommunication lines, new HVAC system, new roof, new windows, an exterior restoration, and most importantly an interior restoration to highlight the great original finishes like the seven story grand staircase. |
